1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly: name, email, matriculation number, graduation year, department, location, and profile details. For transcript requests, we also collect delivery addresses and supporting documents. Payment information is processed by Paystack and never stored on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used to maintain your alumni profile, process service requests, facilitate community connections, send relevant communications, and improve our platform. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Data Protection
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption, secure password hashing, encrypted database storage, and role-based access controls. Sensitive documents are stored with encryption and accessed through signed, time-limited URLs.
4. Directory Privacy
The alumni directory is accessible only to registered members. Your email address is never displayed publicly. Contact between alumni happens through our in-platform relay system. You can control what information appears on your profile.
5. Your Rights
In accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and GDPR principles for diaspora alumni, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us at privacy@aafuoye.org to exercise these rights.
6. Communications
You may receive transactional emails (account verification, request status updates) and optional communications (newsletters, event updates). You can manage your communication preferences in your account settings and unsubscribe at any time.
7. Contact
For privacy-related inquiries, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@aafuoye.org.
